We Are Wedding Collective New Mexico

We Are Wedding Collective New Mexico

col·lec·tive /kəˈlektiv/| A group of people working together toward a common goal or in an organization.

By now you’ve probably heard the big news–we’ve transitioned from Perfect Wedding Guide to Wedding Collective! It has been quite the journey since Shauna Pointer took over the New Mexico franchise of Perfect Wedding Guide back in 2006, and the whole wedding planning experience we have carefully created, just for you, has grown and changed immensely. This growth has truly inspired us to follow our dreams of branching off to focus our energy on the local wedding community.

Here are 5 reasons why we’re now Wedding Collective:

1. We love New Mexico weddings brought to life by local creatives.

2. We want to provide a fresh, user-friendly, and beautiful online planning experience.

3. We are a New Mexico infused planning experience creating locally inspired content.

4. We are branching off to fulfill our growth potential, the vision for our future, and dreams for our wedding community.

5. We’re more than just a magazine, we’re about community. Whether that’s creating a conversation on social media, attending wedding shows, or fostering connections right here in New Mexico, we’re all about keeping it local to build up our wedding community.

You might be wondering, “well, what’s new and what is staying the same?” Lot’s of things are staying the same, but lot’s of things are also changing. For starters, our adorable little magazine will be just as adorable, just as little, and just as convenient in all of the same locations across the state. The only changes are the name on the front, and the new, and inspirational, content inside. Want to see the new guide when they hit the streets in March? Check out the distribution locations on our new site here!

Speaking of the new site, one of our biggest changes is our all new and improved online planning experience. We previously shared a site with all of the other Perfect Wedding Guides in the country, but now have our very own website to provide a more personalized experience for you and the entire local wedding community. You should totally check it out–it’s pretty cool if we do say so ourselves.

All of our wedding shows and vendor events are staying the same, too, because they are some our favorite things to do! In fact, with our ability to create a more personalized experience, our hope is that the shows and events will just keep getting better and better.

If you’re a bride, groom, mother of the bride, father of the groom, friend of the couple, or know anyone who is getting married and want to learn about how you can use Wedding Collective to plan an incredible wedding, head over to our new website and check out all of the local vendors, wedding inspiration, deals + tips, and how to get in contact for more information.

We are Wedding Collective, a modern wedding planning experience for New Mexicans in love, just like you!

Give the Gift of Love with The Recognition Place

Give the Gift of Love with The Recognition Place

First and foremost, Happy Galentine’s Day to all of you lovely ladies out there! We hope you’re ready to spend this day embracing some self-care and your favorite gal pals. When it comes to wedding gifts, it can be hard to think of something unique that the bride and groom don’t already have. Even when presented with the help of a gift registry, sometimes a new toaster oven just doesn’t seem to say how much you love them as a couple. We get it, you want something exciting that they will receive graciously and want to display with pride. How about something engraved with love? Enter The Recognition Place, a locally owned and operated engraving shop and a new member of Perfect Wedding Guide!

When you walk through the door, you will be greeted by a small team of knowledgable professionals who will give you their undivided attention in order to create a high-quality gift. Jason and Thomas, the owners of the shop, have been working in the engraving and awards business for 15 years, so they know their stuff. Unforgettable Proposals with Imyraly’s Proposal Planning

Unforgettable Proposals with Imyraly’s Proposal Planning

It’s an exciting time here at Perfect Wedding Guide because we have so much great news to share with all of you. Aside from the big surprises in the works and our first Diamond Dash Wedding Show of the year coming up, our own lovely office assistant, Imyraly, has just announced the launch of her very own proposal planning business! It’s always amazing to see creative people take the leap to start their own business, but it’s even more amazing when it happens to be someone you know.

Every love story is so different, and that’s why I want to tailor each proposal to fit your love story.

– Imyraly Corral

Imyraly’s vision for her proposal planning business stems from her passion for love stories and romance. It has been her dream ever since she was young to plan unforgettable proposals that would simply melt hearts. Thinking she was alone in this passion, Imyraly never pursued the business because she was worried that it wasn’t something that people would take interest in. This all changed as she decided to do some research and found other like-minded individuals that shared her passion–so she decided to take the leap of faith and go for it.

Although she hasn’t decided on an official name just yet, she is working with her first clients to put her dreams into action. If you’ve ever met Imyraly, you would know that she can brighten any room and shows a strong passion for love and weddings. Her bright and optimistic personality makes her the perfect proposal planner, and her passion for love radiates knowledge and kindness. Your proposal is a seriously big moment in your life, and you’re going to need someone who is not only guiding you, but also understanding you–and we know that Imyraly can do both.

In order to get her business started, Imyraly planned this GORGEOUS “Beauty & the Beast” themed proposal! Check out the gallery below.

Let’s Plan a Party!

Let’s Plan a Party!

The Perfect Wedding Guide team loves, and I mean loves, a good party. We’re always ready to gather up our friends and loved ones to go have a good time, whether it’s gearing up for a wedding show, or attending a super fun murder mystery dinner. We can pretty much make a party out of every exciting occasion. There are certain parties that we don’t get to attend often, but help couples like you plan all of the time–bachelorette parties & bridal showers!

Just by reading the title of this blog, you can probably guess what it’s all about. We won’t explain every tiny detail of party planning, but we will get you on the right track with a local vendor that will help you nail your party… no pun intended. We want to introduce you to one of our newest members and one of Albuquerque’s up and coming event vendors, Paixao Beauty Bar & Event Boutique. These wedding party experts are unlike any other, providing a range of services to fit you and your needs, from nails to hairstyling services. The event space itself is chic, clean and just absolutely stunning. The entire boutique can be reserved for you and your friends to enjoy an exclusive experience. To top it all off, Paixao provides fresh flowers with every service. Who wants a day of pampering, an exclusive space, and fresh flowers? Um, we do! Get a sneak peek of the space located on San Mateo below:

We know you’re probably ready to go over to their website to book your party, but before you go, we want to give you a few party planning tips that apply to any kind of party you might be throwing–even you, dudes.

Tip #1 | Let someone else do the work for you, this is your time to have fun! Hire a local wedding planner who offers party planning services, or ask friends and family for some help planning.

Tip #2 | There’s no dress code when it comes to having a good time, whether that means you want to kick back and relax with your friends in your sweats or go out feeling the energy in your dancing shoes.

Tip #3 | Get creative, this is all about you, so put your personality into it! Love fishing? Take your friends out to the river and bring some food and drinks. Love being pampered? Book a spa day with your besties! Movie buff? Plan a movie night with popcorn and champagne.

No matter what you plan, it’s all about you, my friend. Have some fun!

The Bowie Wedding

The Bowie Wedding

We’re always filled with excitement when we see the sweetest emails pop up in our inbox from local couples that want to share their special day with us. It really is one of the best things about being part of Perfect Wedding Guide! The incredible thing about weddings is that no matter how small or how big, there is always a unique and beautiful love story to go along with it. We live for these stories.

For Kirsten + Justin, their story began a lot like many other love stories–love at first sight. Kirsten had just started a new job at Safelite Autoglass in March of 2014. She was introduced to everyone in the office, but there was one particular employee that caught her eye: Justin Bowie. She was only working there for two weeks when Kirsten was offered an internship at Sandia National Laboratories. We can imagine it would be hard to pass up that opportunity, so she put in her two weeks. Despite her excitement to start a new job, Justin was still on her mind. They had talked a few times during her short time at Safelite, and she felt like they had a spark. On her last day, April 25, she emailed Justin her phone number (he wasn’t around when she was leaving for the day to give it to him in person). He sent her a text later that night, and exactly a month later on May 25, he asked her to be his girlfriend. Four years later, on May 25, 2018, Justin asked Kirsten to marry him and the rest is history. Yup, it’s the perfect love story and they’re pretty much adorable.

Kirsten + Justin are big fans of DIY projects and spending time together, and this didn’t change when it came to their wedding. They handmade all of the decor themselves in order to put as much of their personalities as possible into their wedding day. Between working on the decor together and planning, the whole process helped them bond even more than they could have ever imagined. Justin does home construction for a living and Kirsten has a DIY & Home Decor blog (A Bowie Project), so creating the beautiful decor that they shared with family and friends on their wedding day made them even more excited to see what they could do with future projects as husband and wife. And we can’t wait to see what they do, as well!

We were so thrilled to see that their day was captured flawlessly by the incredible Arielei Kinzer Photography. Check out the gallery below!

Congratulations to Kirsten + Justin! The Perfect Wedding Guide team sends our best wishes to you both and cheers to your new life together.

You’re Engaged, Now What? A Comprehensive Guide on Planning Your Wedding

You’re Engaged, Now What? A Comprehensive Guide on Planning Your Wedding

Your partner popped the big question and you said yes–congratulations! Although the excitement of your engagement has your stomach filled with butterflies and you wish you could hold onto these perfect and stress-free moments forever, you are probably starting to wonder when the chaos of wedding planning is going to begin. More importantly, you’re probably wondering where to start, and that is where we come in! Before we go any further, we want to tell you that planning your wedding is meant to be filled with personality, joy, laughter, and bonding. It can truly be an amazing experience for you AND your loved ones, and we encourage you to have some fun!

The First Steps

Let’s take a deep breath. Sit down. Close your eyes. Imagine your ideal wedding. What do you see? What does your dress look like? What does your suit look like? Is your wedding inside or outside? Do you see trees? What about a chapel? How many people do you want surrounding you while you say ‘I do’? These thoughts can quickly become overwhelming and we know that money and time are the first things that come to mind. For just a moment, imagine that these concepts don’t exist and then open your mind to the possibilities! Instead of seeing them as negative thoughts, turn them into opportunities. This is the moment where you let your personality and imagination take control. After you’ve designed your ideal wedding, now you can take it to the drawing board and decide on the details.

However, we know that some people enjoy having a professional to guide them in their first steps, and that is why wedding + event planners exist! One of our own lovely wedding planners, Danielle of D Events and Weddings, is an expert in her craft and offers full service event planning just for you from beginning to end. Remember that wedding you just imagined, the one that seemed impossible? She’s here to make it possible–and she’s done it countless times before. Yup, you can breathe easy now.

Local Wedding Vendors

So you’ve reached out to your wedding planner, or maybe you’ve decided to DIY, but either way you’re ready to start building your team of love experts. Find your venue, caterer and get all of the high priority planning squared away. Your wedding planner will be right by your side during this process for smooth sailing and emotional support (it’s not in their job description, but we know that they must be pretty good at it). After that, it’s time to grab your gals or your bros and have some fun. Dress and suit shopping, creating ‘save the dates‘, florals–local wedding vendors will have everything you need without the hassle of ordering online and waiting to see your product. We do love a good Etsy shopping spree, but we also encourage you to support your community because they’re kind of flippin’ awesome.

You can also get discounts on local vendors when you have a wedding planner like Black Bow Events, another local business who has years of experience planning amazing weddings. We love that event planners are there every step of the way and have cultivated connections with the wedding community so that planning your wedding can be stress-free and budget friendly.

Just Months and Even Days Away

The wedding is months away, and everything is pretty much settled. Well, as settled as it can be–we get it. Now it’s time for all of the final preparations, like teeth whitenings, spa days, gym memberships, guest accommodations, etc. A wedding planner can help you get set up with all of these things if you’ve lost the energy! But beyond all of this, it’s your time to rest and focus on the love between you and your honey. These moments before the big day are unique and exciting, they should be embraced. So put down your notebook filled with wedding planning notes, go grab the love of your life, and remember why you’re doing it all–for the love.

Feel like you need more wedding planning help + inspiration? You can check out our own website here where you can find upcoming wedding shows, local vendors, discounts, and giveaways. We would be honored to be a part of your planning process and we’re here for you every step of the way.
