National Picnic Day: Wedding Inspo

You brought the prosciutto and brie, right? It is National Picnic Day after all! But don’t worry too much if you haven’t dusted off your trusted wicker basket for the special occasion. We’ve got you pretty well covered for your dose of picnic appreciation today with a meticulously planned, perfectly executed, apple-blossom-inspired styled shoot from Coryn Kiefer Photography, one of Albuquerque’s favorite wedding photographers.

If Coryn’s unique name rings a delicate little bell in your head, it’s probably because we were just obsessing over her ballerina styled shoot just a few weeks ago. Normally we spread the love all around for our local wedding professionals here in New Mexico, but frankly, this shoot made our hearts flutter upon first sight. Within a private, blooming forest framing the exquisite details, this picnic-styled elopement has us ready to throw out everything we know about traditional wedding celebrations.

A palette of baby pink, robin’s egg blue, and a rich mustard yellow complimented the natural green landscape and perfectly cocooned the essence of spring in one moment. Pulling the mythical vibes into the realm of modernity, the bride wore a Maggie Sottero gown from Bridal Elegance by Darlene adorned with ornate lace and gently sparkling beadwork. As Coryn Kiefer Photography commented, “Who says elopement brides have to give up on their dream dress?”

Scroll on to read what else inspired the pure, unbridled magic that is this styled shoot, and try to not get lost. To contact and book Coryn Kiefer Photography for your own fairytale, you can contact her here.

Keeping with our garden theme, we decided to forgo the usual sweetheart table for an intimate picnic of champagne and cake. Colorful throw pillows, vintage lanterns and a small wooden table were placed on a hand woven ivory quilt. Silver flatware, bronze candlesticks and pink water goblets complete the casual elegance of this cozy setup.

Our natural outdoor setting was a private apple orchard in the heart of Corrales New Mexico. The inspiration behind the setting was to combine the airy elegance of the spring season with modern notion of an elegant, and personal, elopement. Modern and vintage décor elements were artfully tied together to help bring this vision to life.

Banque Loft Ballerina Shoot by Local Wedding Photographer

The best kind of love is the kind that takes your breath away year after year, moment after moment.

Coryn Kiefer Photography

For friends who have been hanging out here on the New Mexico Perfect Wedding Guide blog for a while, the name Coryn Kiefer should ring delightful little bells in your head. We took some time to feature her incredible rock cabin styled shoot last Valentine’s Day because we fell in love with her creative finesse of a camera lens. And frankly, we’re still trying to catch our breath, so maybe this, right here, is the best kind of love!

We know that we’re not unique in this love-bordering-on-obsession with Coryn‘s wedding photography, though. How could we be, when her work so clearly reflects her passion and dedication to the craft? It comes as no surprise to discover her first steps into a dark room occurred over 20 years ago, or to discover the myriad of glowing reviews that follow her business’s digital footprint everywhere.

With our affection for her perfection in mind, and the fact Albuquerque already feels as balmy and breezy as it does in May, it feels only right that we share this ballerina-inspired styled shoot to usher us into spring.

The inspiration behind the setting was to combine the airy elegance and beauty of a ballerina with a raw palette of an industrial wedding venue. Modern and vintage decor elements were artfully tied together to help bring this vision to life.

With the softness of a ballerina in mind, the primary colors of this wedding are blush, green, and white. Accents of bronze, natural wood, and robin blue were added to round out and modernize the airy palette.

We’re lucky enough to be on the forefront of weddings, styled shoots, vendor collaborations, and so much more. We’re even luckier to be doing what we love to do, here in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, because both communities are rich in creative people with unique aesthetics, who aren’t afraid of pushing boundaries.

But, with all the love that’s poured into the big details, the little details get twice as much. Because crafting a memorable, special moment to match your love story is actually what My Beloved Vintage Rentals does best. Custom Wedding Jewelry: Vendor Spotlight

With November nearly behind us, and the holiday season coming on the horizon, there’s not much we want to do except lay in our cozy, warm beds and scroll through the wedding section of Pinterest, if we’re being honest. Though the holiday season is known in the wedding world as engagement season, so there’s still much to be done. In times like these, we look to our local wedding professionals for a little boost and a little inspiration.

Jewelry by Josana, a local, custom jewelry business, is exactly what the doctor ordered. Josana’s work, riddled with sparkles and captivating to see in the light, is what we need to bring a little bit of warmth and sunshine back into these chilly almost-winter days. As a wonderfully spiritual and intuitive person, Josana endows each of her custom jewelry pieces with intention, love, and blessings for their wearers.

Jewelry by Josana started several years ago when Josana herself began to recognize the importance of jewelry for herself. Now, after 50 happy years of marriage to her hubby, Josana makes jewelry for engaged couples to wear on their wedding day and beyond, so they too, can have this physical connection to something beautiful.

It is exhilarating for me to see their smiles and excitement when they receive their jewelry! There is nothing like beautiful jewelry to heighten a person’s self esteem.

-Josana, Jewelry by Josana

Using only the finest quality of metals, gemstones, and beads in their work, Jewelry by Josana helps couples choose their pieces to emphasize their wedding colors and add personal touches to reflect their love story within the jewelry.  From hypoallergenic metals and crystals, to freshwater coated pearl, cultured pearls, Preciosa, Australian Crystal, Crackled Crystal, and so much more, the shape, size, and color combinations are nearly limitless for your jewelry.

If you’ve been planning your wedding, or are just obsessed with weddings like we are, then by this point, you probably cringe when you hear about something to make your wedding unique. But truly, each celebration of love is as individual and unrepeatable as your relationship with your soon-to-be-spouse, and highlighting that is one of the most fun parts about your wedding — besides the actual marrying your sole mate part, of course.

Having custom-made, handcrafted jewelry for you and your wedding party is simply one of the easiest, and most affordable ways to do just that. Oh, and did we mention? Your jewelry package order comes with a flower girl set at no extra charge, just to sweeten the day even more. Leave your bridesmaids and partner with tangible memories of the beginning of your life together to cherish for the rest of your forever.

Basic Invite: Anything But Basic Vintage Stationery

Ah, yes, save-the-dates — one of the very first steps in the wedding planning process, with the actual wedding invitations following on their heels. That initial leap into planning one of the biggest events of your lives together can actually be pretty nerve-wracking, if you ask us. Especially when that step involves proof-reading and sending out hundreds of paper products with potential spelling, time and date, or design errors to all your closest friends and family…

Luckily, with Basic Invite, you can lay these fears to rest! {And if you didn’t have anxiety about your wedding invitations until we mentioned all the possible mistakes then, well, our sincerest apologies for the emotional roller coaster.} Since 2006, Basic Invite‘s team of highly creative, highly talented designers and artists have been dutifully handcrafting customizable, vintage wedding invitations, save-the-dates, announcements, photo cards, and basically everything else stationery related from their home base in Saint George, Utah.

Sure there are plenty of options for custom, online stationery design nowadays, but there’s something about Basic Invite that truly sets them apart. Or maybe it’s not one particular thing, but a conglomeration of their attributes that, together, can quell any bride-to-be’s anxiety around the intimidating permanence of paper products. Take their customer service, for example. The moment you click over to their website — which is super intuitive and clean, also — a little window pops up, offering brides the option of live-chatting with one of their team members.

Or even better, their custom samples. Basic Invite is one of the very, very rare invitation companies that will send you and your fiancé a sample of your handcrafted designed stationery before you order. Not only can you physically hold the invite or save the date in your hand to check for texture, color, and design perfection, but you can proofread it once more then, too. Just in case.

Then there’s all the free stuff too! We’re big fans of free things, as are most normal human beings, and Basic Invite is actually chock full of free goodies. Like their all-new wedding websites, which are 100% customizable, just like their invitations. Pop in your wedding details, photos, maps, and all other info your guests would possibly need, all in one convenient spot. {Because, sigh, there will undoubtedly be at least a handful of guests who lose their invitations and have to ask for all the details again.}

All this said and we still haven’t even mentioned the custom options! {Over 40 different envelope options, and over 800 different wedding invitation sets. Yeah, you read that right.} But at this point we’re starting to sound a bit like obsessive fangirls, so we’ll let you, lovely engaged couple and blog-lover, check them out yourself at their site here. Try to not get too obsessed after scrolling through their gorgeous designs — but if you do, we won’t hold it against you.

2018 Diamond Dash Wedding Show: Recap!

With so many wedding shows, bridal events, parties, and shindigs for engaged couples to go to, it can be hard to keep track of the myriad of pre-wedding fun. It might feel like once you’ve been to one wedding show, you’ve been to them all — save for the new local business owners at each one, of course. But there is one wedding show that always stands out: the Diamond Dash.

Not to toot our own horns, either. We love checking out, being a part of, and supporting all other wedding shows + events in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. All we’re saying is: Have you been to another local wedding show where 5 brides-to-be dove into a wedding cake before?

Ah, yes, the famed diamond dash that happens at the end of every Diamond Dash Wedding Show. 5 local fiancés, darned in custom PWG aprons to protect their pretty clothes, dig around in a giant wedding cake courtesy of Cake Fetish, to find a diamond necklace that’s been baked inside the delicious cake.

But that’s not all that goes down at the Diamond Dash — especially not this time around at our March 2018 Diamond Dash, at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. On top of the cake dive, King Mobile Music spent the whole Sunday morning giving away prize after prize after prize, hosting dance competitions between brides and grooms, and keeping the energy amped.

They Hyatt Regency Albuquerque’s cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and gorgeous ballroom rounded out the day, and set the stage perfectly — and literally! — for the fashion show. Bridal Elegance by Darlene and Suits Unlimited, two of Albuquerque’s best businesses, showcased couture bridal fashion on gorgeous models with hair and makeup done by Bliss Salon and Spa. The best part? All local vendors = all the fashion, makeup, and inspo is at your fingertips.

Luckily, Photography Perspectives was there to capture the day, so you don’t have to take our word for it. You can see the hype through their team’s always-incredible photographic eye! Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to reminiscence too.

Grab tickets for the next Diamond Dash on Oct. 28th, 2018 HERE!

Ringing in Spring with Ooh! Aah! Jewelry

Yes, we still have a few days before it’s officially spring… but the sun is shining and we’re ready to break out our sundresses! It seems only right that we take a moment now to talk about one of our new favorite, local vendors: Ooh! Aah! Jewelry. Their curated collection of vintage + modern gems is not only perfect for the spring-hearted bride, but for all jewelry-wearers who want one-of-a-kind accessories to compliment their warm weather wardrobe.

{We’re about one second away from spring-cleaning out our jewelry boxes to make room for a dozen of their sterling silver rings, topaz and diamond necklaces, and of course, at least one pair of 14K gold drop-bar earrings.}

Not to mention that for as long as we can remember, there has been a call for unique engagement and wedding rings from engaged couples who want them to reflect their individual style and love story. And for 30 years, Ooh! Aah! Jewelry has been answering that call. Now, I might be biased because their collection is totally aligned with my personal style, but I’m definitely not the only one!

Winning a plethora of awards from local couples and shoppers in general from “Best Casual Jewelry Store in Albuquerque,” “Best Jewelry Store in New Mexico,” to “Best Downtown Retail Store” it’s pretty clear that Albuquerque has a lot of love for Ooh! Aah! Jewelry. So do we! Which is why we’re honored to have them as a vital member of the Perfect Wedding Guide family of local vendors.

So fiancés — this one is for you! Your search for an unrivaled engagement ring, anniversary gift, or wedding band gets to end here. You don’t have to thank us though, just thank Ooh! Aah! Jewelry for working so hard to provide local engaged couples of all styles with jewelry to delight, surprise, and wear forever.
