Exquisite Details: Local Styled Shoot Spotlight

How blessed are we to live in a city with such an abundance of wedding expertise? Getting married in New Mexico means you have a huge array of choices for the wedding professionals you decide to hire. Which then means, of course, you get to choose to work with people on your special day who you actually get along with, on a human level. Being able to connect with your wedding pros before your wedding ensures that on the big day, things are smooth as can be, because everyone is on the same page.

Even with this connection though, we’re still continuously amazed with how Albuquerque + Santa Fe wedding businesses manage to perpetually go above and beyond with the love they bring and showcase for every couple. Which is why we adore styled shoots so much, too. What better way to illuminate the dedication to detail and venerable knowledge each professional has about weddings?

This styled shoot was coordinated and cultivated by the New Mexico Wedding Professionals — a group of likeminded, hardworking wedding businesses who are experts at their craft. From venues, to florists, to officiants and more, the New Mexico Wedding Professionals are an eclectic bunch who all have one thing in common: excellency.

Shot at Isleta Resort and Casino by one of our most beloved photographers, Photographic Perspectives, this styled shoot was all about highlighting that excellency.

An evening of romance, exquisite details, and the exploration of the uniqueness of Isleta Resort and Casino took place. From using custom-made Renee linens for the Santa Fe Opera, to the whimsical florals and carefully chosen lace gown and veil, the vision of sophistication and elegance was truly captured.

New Mexico Wedding Professionals

This gorgeous moment, captured in time forever more by Photographic Perspectives, was the amalgamation of so many moving parts, that came together for one, collaborative manifestation of a dream.

To meet these vendors in person, connect with them over mutual love of weddings, and chat about the excellency they can incorporate into your wedding day, you can stop by the first wedding show of 2019: the Wicked Wedding Show at the Albuquerque Sheraton Uptown Hotel! This years theme is Elegance at an Angle — RSVP here, before it’s too late.

Dramatic New Mexican Skies with Local Wedding Professionals

Like all our favorite things — wine, cheese, Golden Girls reruns — the Perfect Wedding Guide Diamond Dash just continues to get better with age. Which, if you happened to catch any of our stories or posts from Sunday on social media, you’ll know it was one for the books! The energy and liveliness of the wedding show paralleled no other, and left us feeling inspired, reinvigorated, and so grateful to be a part of the local wedding community here in Albuquerque + Santa Fe.

With another round of wedding shows down for the entire year as well, we can’t help but to reflect on what made 2018 so spectacular. For us, it was undoubtedly the wedding professionals, like the ones who brought their A-game to the Diamond Dash, who we have the chance to support and be supported by. Being members of the New Mexico Wedding Professionals, or NMWP for short, is just one of the ways we get to do so, by working with and for the small businesses owners who make up the group of experts.

And when we say experts, we mean it. Florists, officiants, venues, photographers — if you can name it, there’s a dedicated member of NMWP who can do it. So when this styled shoot came to fruition from their wedding-obsessed minds, we were absolutely swooning.

With the stage set at The View Event Center — whose booth at the Diamond Dash was gorgeous, by the way — Kevin’s Photography captured the urban magic of the venue perfectly. Charlotte’s Flowers, one of the many talented wedding veterans of Albuquerque + Santa Fe, arranged the gorgeous modern bouquets, while Bridal Elegance by Darlene and Suits Unlimited outfitted the couple.

We had a wonderful time capturing the essence of a wedding day at this beautiful venue! The eclectic decor was a perfect setting for the elegant styles of the bridal outfits and flowers, each working together for a unique photo shoot every bride dreams of. The dramatic New Mexico skies presented a perfect background for this couple from the wrap around balcony overlooking the picturesque city of Albuquerque! Appreciation to all who participated in sharing their time and talents.

We second that Kevin! So much appreciation to all who participated in the styled shoot, and continue to serve local, engaged couples with their wedding expertise and industry knowledge.

Mulberry Marvel: Real Wedding with Maura Jane Photography

Yes, we’re feeling particularly touched by real weddings this week. But with the past few days being so chilly and rainy, who couldn’t use a little warmth from some real, local love stories?! Maura Jane Photography, one of Albuquerque’s favorite wedding photographers, always gifts us with the most heartfelt, perfectly captured moments from the local couples she works with. It’s the perfect material to cozy up to and get lost in! With a hot cup of coffee to boot, of course.

Sara + Paul’s story is one that tugs on our heartstrings in a special way, too. Married at the famed Los Poblanos Historic Inn + Organic Farm, the couples celebrated the culmination of their engagement with a ravishing party, surrounded by all their favorite people in the world. Just as it should be.

There was a lot of laughter after the best man’s speech, and not a dry eye after the maid of honor finished hers. It was very apparent that Paul and Sara are very loved by every person who was in attendance. The reception took no time to get started, with people jumping straight onto the dance floor, and by the time we left, they were all still there. We wish Sara and Paul a lifetime of love, laughter, and dancing, which we know will be no issue for them!

The uncontainable adoration of their wedding guests was, by far, the most beautiful aspect of Sara + Paul’s wedding day. But we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the aesthetics of their celebration, which flawlessly mirrored the lively and lovely personality of the couple.

Framed by the rosey-nude tones and subtle pinks, the delicate beading on Sara’s two-piece wedding gown sparkled so gloriously, it was only rivaled by the shared glances of love and excitement between her and Paul. The deep mulberry-wine shades of their bridal party, coordinated perfectly with the blooming rose bushes lining the outdoor walkways of Los Poblanos. Plus, the couple was married with a gorgeous backdrop of a copper star, handmade by Sara’s father, which elevated the entirety of the wedding decor with it’s obvious love and intention.

Sara and Paul’s wedding was the perfect combination of classic elegance, paired with a killer party. Sara’s dress was a stunning two piece gown from Emma and Grace Bridal with an interchangeable skirt. The second skirt, without a train,  made it easier for her to dance and run around during the reception. Perfect for a party girl! The bridal party wore a stunning mulberry shade all in different designs, with the groomsmen’s pocket squares coordinating.

We’re doing a little happy dance here, in Sara + Paul’s honor, and you should too! What else is there to celebrate, if not the coalescence of two lives into one, love-filled partnership for life?!

Amor Ceremonies {Repeat After Me}

Here at PWG we find ourselves behind the scenes a lot so we like to periodically check in with some of our favorite wedding professionals to see what they have been up to and ask them to share their wedding stories with us.  (We want to be a part of the wedding day magic too!)

Recently we asked Kelly Atkin with Amor Ceremonies to share a unique wedding experience with us and her response was heartwarming to say the least.

Perfect Wedding Guide: Can you share with us a unique wedding experience you’ve had?

Amor Ceremonies: “One of the things I like best about being an Officiant is the opportunity to create a special ceremony, just for the couple, even if it means being spontaneous and doing something I’ve never done.  But when the thought flashes before me and I know the moments right all I can do is present what feels good.  Which brings me to a wedding I performed this last weekend.  I didn’t have the opportunity to meet with the couple in advance, they didn’t feel it was necessary as it was going to be small, just their 7 year old son, and the grooms elderly parents.  Part way through the ceremony grandpa moved over to stand next to his grandson, who was crying, rubbing his shoulders… the couple noticed this and gathered up their son to give him a kiss and collect their rings as we were at that moment in the ceremony, but I could tell they wanted to move on with the ceremony, so I asked their son to come stand by me, which happened to be at the very moment when I was going to have them place the rings in each other fingers and “repeat after me”.  This is when I decided to ask their son to do the reading and they would repeat after him.  Wow, could that 7 year old read! It was such an incredible moment that brought tears to all our eyes.  Everyone felt the love!

Andre & Misty April 2, 2015 (2) (2)This was not only non-traditional & unique but what drives my passion for what I do, I just love seeing couples and families connect and engage in each others lives and if I can help facilitate that then I am completely happy!  Being an Officiant gives me the opportunity to let my LOVE SHINE THROUGH!”

Here is what the Long family had to say about Kelly’s services: “Fantastic! She was very flexible and accommodating. We are several states away and did everything via email and it was perfect. She was very patient and adaptable with our Autistic son! Would highly recommend her :)”

Thank you for sharing Kelly Atkin! This is such a precious story, I can only imagine how incredible that moment must have been. It is no wonder Amor Ceremonies has been voted Bride’s Choice for best Officiant. Wishing the Long’s family joy and life long happiness!
