Intimate Elegance: Real New Mexican Wedding with Maura Jane Photography

Tori and Sean were one of those couples who didn’t need to be told when to hold each other, or when to kiss. They were naturally so affectionate, all we had to do was stand back and capture it.

Maura, Maura Jane Photography

It’s no secret that we’re spoiled here in New Mexico when it comes to wedding venues. From the quiet mountain gems like Nature Pointe, to urban-chic modern chapels at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, our home state has a venue for pretty much any aesthetic or preference.

Not to mention the fact that competitive price points, multiple ceremony spot options, and unbelievably accommodating event staff are all common features of wedding venues in New Mexico, too. So when it comes to choosing just one for your wedding, well, we understand how the  overwhelm of options can inundate during the beginning stages of the wedding planning process.

Victoria and Sean’s wedding at Casa Rondeña Winery proves, though, that no compromise is necessary when it comes to finding the perfect wedding venue for your celebration. Sean first proposed to Tori on the historic garden grounds of Los Poblanos. After getting down on one knee surrounded by the beauty of the organic farm + inn, the couple stayed in one of the rooms to celebrate.

So when their wedding day came around, incorporating Los Poblanos into the festivities was a must. Tori, elegance embodied wrapped up in lace, got ready in the very same room where the couple first commemorated their new engagement.

We loved the farmhouse room with its tall ceilings and beautiful canopy bed. It was the perfect place for Tori to get ready.

The couple then had an intimate ceremony, with their closest family and friends, just up the street at the well-loved winery, Casa Rondeña. With Maura Jane Photography there to capture all the hidden moments and treasured details though, the celebration never really stops — Tori and Sean can relive their happiest day through her lens endlessly.

Tori’s step dad officiated after her brother walked her down the aisle. Sean’s daughter helped the couple light their unity candle, and other family members presented readings. After the ceremony guests followed the couple to cocktail hour, while the planner rearranged the ceremony space into a gorgeous and personal dinner party. A long farm table was dressed with beautiful lush garland and candles with touches of gold and navy. It was exactly as Tori had envisioned. The night ended with a beautiful sparkler send off as everyone hugged and wished the couple years of happiness.

Los Poblanos Weddings Throughout the Seasons

Here in Albuquerque, when you think spring, you think Los Poblanos. It’s a cognitive connection that we simply can’t shake, what with the rows and rows of flowering lavender, the festival for the very plant for which they’re known, fresh and whimsical weddings, and so much more. But actually, as self-proclaimed groupies of the famed New Mexico wedding venue, we know a little secret…

Los Poblanos magically transforms with every equinox and solstice. It’s true! We’ve seen it ourselves — as summer drops into fall, as fall slips into winter, some sort of wizardry overcomes the rugged-glam organic farm. The heavenly scent of lavender in bloom and lush historic gardens is replaced with that of cozy wood-burning fireplaces, delicate candles, and unbelievably crisp air.

All that remains the same with each change of the season is the classic New Mexican architecture, sprawling natural landscape, and their dedicated staff. And, because it’s extremely difficult to not be obsessed with her, Maura Jane Photography is also a Los Poblanos staple! Her unparalleled eye for timelessly light and airy wedding photography perfectly complements the delicacies of the inn + farm.

If ever there were a wedding business collab from heaven that happened to occur in New Mexico, these two vendors would be at the helm.

So we’re sharing our little discovery with you, our Perfect Wedding Guide friends and fam! Because we’re oh so lucky to have Maura Jane Photography weddings and styled shoots from each season to swoon over, and we simply couldn’t keep it to ourselves. Plus, if anyone deserves to take advantage of the New Mexican treasures that are Maura Jane Photography and Los Poblanos Historic Inn + Organic Farm, it’s you.

1. WINTER

It’s no trick of the light! Though Maura Jane does have a way of making everything look warm + inviting, you real won’t have a problem keeping cozy, even on New Mexico’s chilliest days. Plus, did ya know that if you mention Perfect Wedding Guide, you’ll keep free, super exclusive winter wedding enhancements from Los Poblanos? Pretty neat if you ask us.

2. SPRING

This spectacular spring wedding was one of our favorite’s from Maura Jane Photography. We might be biased though, as some of us have a slight affection for anything as dreamy and rosy as these photos! Read more about this particular wedding in a feature here.

3. SUMMER

This timeless touches styled shoot was absolutely to die for! Blue, unbelievably underrated as far as wedding colors goes, was captured perfectly and truly popped against the neutral hues of Los Poblanos.

4. FALL

Ah, and finally, our dear autumn. Golden leaves shining through the towering, ancestral trees — there’s not much more that needs to be said here.

Real Wedding with Floriography + Los Poblanos

If you’ve been keeping up with our Perfect Wedding Guide team on our socials, you’ll know most of us are currently in the grown up version of Disneyworld: Las Vegas, Nevada. Although for us, it’s less roller coaster rides, and more learning about creative branding at the Wedding MBA Conference. Which, for those obsessed with weddings and marketing, is way more fun than an amusement park. Just sayin’.

As a close second though, the warm, sunny weather here is up pretty high on our list of favorite things about Las Vegas. Recalling the bright sunshine and clean desert air of our home state, New Mexico, isn’t so hard here, though it does have us reminiscing on our favorite summer weddings. So for our fellow New Mexicans, and all other places with less amicable weather currently, let’s cozy up to one of summer 2018’s best Albuquerque + Santa weddings, and pretend it’s not so windy outside. Shall we?

Floriography and Los Poblanos Historic Inn + Organic Farm combined creative forces to cultivate this garden fairytale wedding for the adorable Paige + Brian. The colors and details of the day were delicate, but perfectly coordinated: Paige’s ivory-cream gown with its simple lines and flattering framing, and Brian’s subtle, but very complimentary, baby pink bowtie. Delicate, but not be confused with fragile. An air of familiarity drew guests in — they even opted out of formal table seating for their reception — and encouraged fun and lightheartedness.

Floriography‘s arrangements, incredibly modern and yet timelessly clean as always, supported Paige + Brian’s comfortably fanciful vibes. While Los Poblanos, in all its rustic glamour, did the same by simply staying true to the venue’s famed aesthetics.

Whimsy and romance intersected in the most delightful way at Paige and Brian’s summer wedding. The always enchanting Los Poblanos acted as the perfect backdrop for the afternoon soiree at the La Quinta event center. Paige wore an elegant gown that vibed perfectly with the garden party feel of the celebration. The color palette was inspired by the lavender fields of the venue and the soft romantic tones of summer. The bride carried a garden-inspired bouquet of white tree peonies and a lush collection of blooms grown on a farm less than a mile from the property. These local blooms by The Bloomist Farm included lisianthus, sweet peas, and larkspur.

-Emily, Floriography

All in all, Paige + Brian’s day inspires a visceral response, akin to smelling something from long ago that suddenly brings you back to your childhood tea parties. Though the farmhouse elegance and balanced details place this gorgeous wedding far away from anything childish, the day was both lively and buoyant, quaint and idyllic.

Mulberry Marvel: Real Wedding with Maura Jane Photography

Yes, we’re feeling particularly touched by real weddings this week. But with the past few days being so chilly and rainy, who couldn’t use a little warmth from some real, local love stories?! Maura Jane Photography, one of Albuquerque’s favorite wedding photographers, always gifts us with the most heartfelt, perfectly captured moments from the local couples she works with. It’s the perfect material to cozy up to and get lost in! With a hot cup of coffee to boot, of course.

Sara + Paul’s story is one that tugs on our heartstrings in a special way, too. Married at the famed Los Poblanos Historic Inn + Organic Farm, the couples celebrated the culmination of their engagement with a ravishing party, surrounded by all their favorite people in the world. Just as it should be.

There was a lot of laughter after the best man’s speech, and not a dry eye after the maid of honor finished hers. It was very apparent that Paul and Sara are very loved by every person who was in attendance. The reception took no time to get started, with people jumping straight onto the dance floor, and by the time we left, they were all still there. We wish Sara and Paul a lifetime of love, laughter, and dancing, which we know will be no issue for them!

Maura, Maura Jane Photography

The uncontainable adoration of their wedding guests was, by far, the most beautiful aspect of Sara + Paul’s wedding day. But we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the aesthetics of their celebration, which flawlessly mirrored the lively and lovely personality of the couple.

Framed by the rosey-nude tones and subtle pinks, the delicate beading on Sara’s two-piece wedding gown sparkled so gloriously, it was only rivaled by the shared glances of love and excitement between her and Paul. The deep mulberry-wine shades of their bridal party, coordinated perfectly with the blooming rose bushes lining the outdoor walkways of Los Poblanos. Plus, the couple was married with a gorgeous backdrop of a copper star, handmade by Sara’s father, which elevated the entirety of the wedding decor with it’s obvious love and intention.

Sara and Paul’s wedding was the perfect combination of classic elegance, paired with a killer party. Sara’s dress was a stunning two piece gown from Emma and Grace Bridal with an interchangeable skirt. The second skirt, without a train,  made it easier for her to dance and run around during the reception. Perfect for a party girl! The bridal party wore a stunning mulberry shade all in different designs, with the groomsmen’s pocket squares coordinating.

Maura, Maura Jane Photography

We’re doing a little happy dance here, in Sara + Paul’s honor, and you should too! What else is there to celebrate, if not the coalescence of two lives into one, love-filled partnership for life?!

Timeless Touches: A Styled Shoot

As a wedding photographer, I strive to create images and memories for my clients that they can look back on years from now and still love. This was the main motivation behind this photoshoot. Creating something that we can still appreciate 10, 20, 30 years from today.

-Maura, Maura Jane Photography

We’re total wedding-trend groupies, and honestly, we’re not afraid to admit it. Following along the perpetual evolution of decor, floral arrangements, and gowns while each facet of the wedding world grows and adapts to fit the needs of current trends is ceaselessly inspiring. Especially when we get to watch up-close as Albuquerque + Santa Fe’s local wedding professionals match — and even exceed! — trends from New York and L.A. without charging New York or L.A. prices.

But there is one downside to the ephemerality of wedding trends, and it’s simply that: they’re ephemeral! Think of your parents’ wedding photos — what with their sepia tones and overabundance of taffeta. The endlessly evolving trends are exciting to keep up with, it’s true, but it also means certain styles and details can carbon-date your wedding photos, and might warrant teasing from your future grandchildren.

So there’s something to be said for choosing to work with what is classic, like Maura Jane Photography did with this shoot at Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Lavender Farm. Rather than limiting the creative possibilities by skirting around current trends, the restriction offers talented local professionals — like A Beautiful Theme, who designed this shoot — the opportunity to showcase their innovative problem-solving skills.

Together, this team of Albuquerque’s best wedding experts manifested a dusty-blue dream and we’re willing to place bets on the fact we’ll still love this shoot in 10 years time. How could we not?!

Wedding trends have always come and gone, from mason jars and burlap, to dresses with puffed sleeves, and cakes with fountains. However, a wedding that is timeless can always be appreciated. We wanted to create an inspiration photoshoot with a classic and elegant theme. A wedding with timeless touches that also incorporates certain trends that are popular now with some of the most beautiful and stylish weddings of today. We used the popular color of dusty blue throughout the shoot, from the yummy macaroons on the dessert table to beautiful earrings that graced the bride’s ears and the pumps on her feet. She wore her hair in a classic chignon while the groom looked equally as dashing in a navy suit. Exquisite peonies and eucalyptus hung from the mint blue classic getaway car and down the long wooden tables. Ornate mirrored signs with effortless calligraphy decorated the entrance to the reception area and the dessert table.

Whimsical Wedding from Lauren Cherie Photography’s Instagram Takeover

Did you know social media has actually been around for 40 years!? Whew, I didn’t. It seems like Facebook and Instagram just came out of nowhere and took the world by storm, like, a decade ago! Growing so fast, now it’s hard to imagine a life and even a world without social media.

And we’re glad for that! Aren’t you? Media platforms and profiles have totally opened up the way brides and grooms can communicate and connect with local vendors. Now, vendors also have an opportunity to showcase their personality along with their talent. Which means engaged couples have the opportunity to connect with vendors who will not only do a good job, but will get along with them personally and understand their vision while they do.

One of our very favorite ways to connect local, engaged couples with Albuquerque + Santa Fe’s loveliest wedding professionals is through our own social media channels. From vendor highlights, videos, countdowns and giveaways, we’re basically always throwing something at the local wedding community. To take a break sometimes, we let some of our most exciting, endearing, and hardworking business owners {like Lauren Cherie Photography!} take over our Instagram and Snapchat.

Lauren, the creative heart and name behind Lauren Cherie Photography, has cultivated her love and penchant for visual storytelling since she was a little girl, and it shows. If you didn’t get the chance to watch her takeover this last month, then have no fear! You’ll still miss the behind-the-scenes thrill of being a wedding photographer, but we have eye candy from the breathtaking and whimsical wedding at Los Poblanos to make up for it. Don’t forget to check out the gorgeous wedding film included below too!

Congratulations to the stunning couple, Marisa + Caleb! It’s obvious how full of love your day was, and we wish you a lifetime of happy companionship.

{And thank you Lauren, for stealing our socials for a day, and for being a part of this big, beautiful, Perfect Wedding Guide family!}
