Their team of 3 incredible ladies hand-crafts custom designs with each duo’s personal style at the forefront. Don’t believe it? We know, it sounds too good to be true. If you need some evidence, you can scroll — try not to drool when you do — through photos of the previous designs they cultivated from local couple‘s wildest dreams. Or even better, book a consultation with their team to get the ball rolling, and they’ll share their design portfolio with you. {It’s a dream, but you’ll just have to see for yourself.}

So yes, if you’re modern, hip, and ready to tie the knot, Funk Olive Design: Invitations + Stationery is the place for you. Get ready for bewildering bespoke-ness, you bold bride-to-be.

PWG Elite Awards: Vote Now!

While it’s true that we, the Perfect Wedding Guide team, do have some authority when it comes to showcasing Albuquerque + Santa Fe’s local wedding professionals, we fully admit to not knowing everything. To stay humble, each year we reach out to hundreds of local engaged — or recently married couples — to get the full scoop on what it’s like to work with vendors like Matt Blasing Photography, Amor Ceremonies, or Prairie Star.

{Because, if we could get to see these professionals in action by having a wedding every weekend, we totally would. Unfortunately, half our team is already married.}

Then we take all this incredible info from real couples, and we bestow the Perfect Wedding Guide Elite Awards to the hardest working, kindest, and most deserving wedding vendors! And guess what?

Voting for 2018 is open NOW!

Here’s your chance to, with a few clicks, pass on all you learned while planning your own wedding, to other engaged couples! Your vote is essentially your recommendation to all the amazing love-birds of Albuquerque + Santa Fe. So if you really vibed with or were impressed by a wedding professional who worked to make your day special, here’s a super simple way to pass back some of the love they showed you!

{Not married yet? That’s alright too — feel free to vote for any vendors who have made your planning process a little more enjoyable, because that’s just as important too.}

You can vote for your favorite business owners HERE

Then, keep an eye peeled for the winners who will be announced later this year, and see if your fave team made the cut!

Oh yeah, and those amazing vendors we mentioned at the beginning of this post? {Matt Blasing Photography, Amor Ceremonies, and Prairie Star} They’re just a few of last year’s venerable winners. You can check out the rest of 2017’s PWG Elite Award Winners here, and follow the links included to book them for your wedding, too!

Bride’s Night Out: 2018

Wedding shows aren’t everyone’s jam. Sometimes, spending your Sunday in a bustling crowd, chatting with local vendors just isn’t in the cards, and that’s totally okay! Which is why our Perfect Wedding Guide team tries to shake it up a bit.

Bride’s Night Out {which is just around the corner!} isn’t your typical wedding show. As the name of the event might indicate, it’s more of a night-on-the-town. You can bring your bridesmaids, best friends, soon-to-be-spouse, or just cruise around solo at Hotel Andaluz from 6 – 8pm on May 17, 2018. With a shorter show and a more intimate setting, the Bride’s Night Out is swanky and fun, and personally, my favorite event.

Albuquerque + Santa Fe’s best and brightest vendors come together for this night to create an experience for you. Like Isleta Resort, whose team had free lip scrub samples from their spa, and mini lipstick demos that left every engaged couple sparkling. Or Nature Pointe, with their adorable cookies + treats for you to take home, and of course, Selfie Sensation‘s super fun photo booth.

Plus, the first 50 couples who enter in the magnificence of Hotel Andaluz are given swag bags that are bursting with coupons, goodies, and wedding planning tips, all from local vendors. It’s not hard to be early either! Ibiza, Hotel Andaluz‘s rooftop lounge + bar, is the perfect place to hang out before the show. {Not to mention, it’s the best photo op spot for you Instagrammers out there.}

Then there’s the games, giveaways, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and glamour. Basically, this event is a girl’s night out, but with wedding planning and tons of free stuff included, too. You can unwind, meet some incredible business owners, and win prizes in one of Albuquerque’s most beautiful, historic venues.

So there you have it! We’ll see you there, right? Right. Text your bridesmaids and tell them to clear their calendar for the evening of May 17, 2018, and grab your tickets below.

5 Tips Tuesday- Wedding Basics

1

{Make your big day a vacation!}

If you are planning a summer wedding why not make it a little easier on friends and family by planning it on a holiday to help alleviate the stress of them having to get time off of work. For example this year Memorial Day lands on a Monday {May 27}. Or there is also Labor Day, which also falls on a Monday {September 2}. Just one extra travel day can really help make it possible and less stressful for your out of town guests to come share your special day with you and your guy.

2

{Don’t be afraid of consultation appointments.}

I cannot stress enough how much consultation appointments can help things run more smoothly, especially on one of the most important days of your life. Don’t be afraid to ask your hair stylist, nail technician and makeup artist for a pre- wedding consultation appointment so that you can figure the exact look you are going for in a stress free environment. You don’t want to be experimenting the day of. Instead, you want to walk in and simply replicate the looks you have decided on. Practice makes perfect. Be prepared!

3

{Take a deep breath and relax for your wedding photos.}

Take a mental note to relax while your wedding photographer is snapping shots of you and your guy. Don’t be worried about looking perfect in every photo- just do your thing. While you will definitely want you photographer to capture picture perfect formal shots be sure to have some where you and all of your loved ones are just enjoying each other – candid photos are the best.

4

{Don’t drink until the reception.}

You can definitely have a glass of champagne or a nice refreshing mimosa to help ease you wedding nerves but save the  party for your reception. You will thank me later when all of your photos are flawless:)

5

 {Have your maid of honor and bridesmaids carry around touch up makeup for you.}

That is their duty! Make sure they are stocked with your shade of lipstick or gloss, a little powder and blush. That way not matter what are you are doing on your special day you can sneak off and touch up- keeping you looking flawless and feeling confident.

Valentine’s Day Themed Wedding Ideas

 First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!

In the spirit of Valentines day I thought  I would share some “cupid” inspired wedding details that I found while browsing.

I thought they may be great inspiration for brides planning  2014 Valentine’s day nuptials.

What a great day to celebrate a couples love-right?

I found this valentines day inspired  save the date/rsvp invite and I loved how animated and easy on the eyes it was. Typically brides opt for very formal wedding materials, however, I think playfulness- like in this example- is very refreshing !

The following collage is actually a valentines day inspired engagement photo shoot which is really fun! I loved how they used the hearts as a running theme and accessory. Creating a theme for your engagement shoot can definitely help give it consistency so that your photos actually end up looking like a photo-series, which is awesome and super cute.

How to choose a videographer for a wedding

When a couple starts planning a wedding, they quickly see their list of to-do’s skyrocket, as they have to pick out everything from the beautiful wedding dress and cake to invitations and a venue. However, many brides- and grooms-to-be agree that one of the most important aspects of wedding planning is finding the videographer, as these are the individuals who give the couple a chance to relive their big day.

When searching for a videographer, it is important to ensure the person is legitimate – look for a website, reviews and samples of their work. Even though a bride and groom may be able to save some cash by opting for a cheaper videographer, make sure they are still a professional, instead of a film student with any old camera.

In addition, most videographers will offer different packages. It is imperative to sort through all of the packages and ensure the couple chooses the best one for them. Every wedding is unique, so choosing the right video package will keep the memory of the big day alive for years to come.
