Airy + Alluring Apple Orchard {Real} Wedding

Well, pack it all up folks, our work here is done. We’ve officially found the most appealing New Mexican wedding, and it took place at the apple orchard, Rancho Manzana. {Get it? Appealing, apple orchard, peeling apples? Cheap shot, we know, and usually we don’t go for low-hanging fruit, but we’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth for food puns and couldn’t resist. It stems from a place of deep admiration, we promise.}

Though there’s still a few weeks before the official start of autumn — three to be exact, but we’re not anxiously counting the days or anything like that — it seems all of New Mexico is ready to release the summer heat in favor of fall’s freshness. Green chile roasting has already begun filling the air with savory, mouthwatering memories, earlier this year than ever before. At least as far as we can remember!

So there’s no better wedding to share for some unrivaled wedding planning inspiration at this particular moment in time. Captured by the dutiful and darling, Arielei Kinzer Photography, this celebration is exactly what we need to tide us over until the leaves finally start to turn. Wrapped up in a warm, cinnamon-y type of love, Lynsey + Kent married last October in Chimayó, New Mexico at, yes, a stunning apple orchard.

I loved getting to photograph this wedding for Lynsey and Kent! They blew me away with how kind and genuine they were, and their friends and family were all so wonderful. Their wedding was heartfelt, simple, and filled with personal touches — it really was serene and beautiful. Definitely one for the record books!

The wedding took place at an apple orchard in Chimayó, and Lynsey spent the week beforehand picking apples. She used these apples for homemade apple butter, which she then packaged into little jars to give away as wedding favors! How awesome (and adorable!) is that?

-Arielei, Arielei Kinzer Photography

Our suggestion for scoping out this exceedingly serene wedding for inspiration is to do as follows: blast your air conditioner, draw the shades, and make a cup of tea. Only then should you wrap up in your favorite sweater and/or blanket, and scroll on to live vicariously through Lynsey + Kent’s celebration that’s as sweet and warm as Lynsey’s apple butter. When real life calls again and you simply must step out into the beating sun again, remember — only three more weeks until we can all get married under golden leaves and sweet fruits.

Andrea + Rebecca’s Real + Rosy Wedding

In Albuquerque alone, there’s an estimated 5,000 marriage licenses given out every single year. Which, if you’re ever feeling down about the state of the world, is a beautiful statistic to consider. (5,000 couples pledging their love to each other!) But it’s also a little overwhelming. How can we possibly give the attention and recognition that each wonderful marriage deserves?!

Realistically, we can’t. Luckily though, weddings like Andrea + Rebecca’s make us forget about all others. Not because it was a wedding from the royal family or America’s equivalent — the Kardashian’s — but because there’s something distinctly universal about the love that emanates from Andrea + Rebecca.

Maybe it’s the full-bellied laughter that accompanied the misty eyes during their ceremony, or the secret lover’s dance captured by Matt Blasing Photography, or just a combination of all the tiny, exquisite moments from their day. Whatever it may be, Andrea + Rebecca’s wedding calls to mind the memory of a pure, unbridled kind of joyous love.

Though, not everything about their celebration was universal. Sidestepping tradition, Rebecca + Andrea walked down the aisle hand in hand, with Rebecca in a bright red dress that accentuated both brides’ rosy cheeks and Andrea’s tie, of course. {Plus the day took place at the unparalleled venue, Los Poblanos Historic Inn + Organic Farm, which is truly a one-of-a-kind space.}

Somehow, as always, the husband and wife duo that is Matt Blasing Photography managed to capture the couple in all their uniqueness and wholeness. Through their lens we’re able to participate, albeit from a distance, as two distinct individuals come together in a brand-new, unique union, while also recognizing the ubiquitous nature of their love and how it mirrors all the love that came before them.

Thank you, Andrea + Rebecca, and Matt Blasing Photography, for sharing this special day with us so we could, in turn, share it with our lovely readers.

Where Are They Now? {Celeste + Brandon}

You might remember Celeste + Brandon from this blog post a couple weeks ago. You know, the love so gorgeous and devoted this blogger was crying over it? Their wedding, which was last October, tugged at our heartstrings in a really special way. Yes, yes — we do love all married and engaged couples, but something about Celeste + Brandon’s celebration inspired us.

Which is why we decided to catch up with them! We love when our local vendors share special days with us, but…We’ve always wondered how the beautiful couples from our posts fair after the whirlwind of a wedding day settles down. Now we don’t have to! Celeste + Brandon motivated us to reach out to our local couples and ask: Where Are You Now?

I will never forget the day we met. We met at a baseball game in the town I was attending college. He happened to show up too and there wasn’t a huge crowd. So we sat by each other in the warm March day. I was there to watch the cute guys, he was there for the baseball. I pretended to understand what was happening and he probably knew that I had no clue! But he stuck around until the end of the game with me, even though I had felt my legs burning in the sunshine, I didn’t want to part with him yet. I asked him over to play with my dog and my dog immediately loved him. That’s when I knew he was different. He made me laugh and feel beautiful from the moment we met. I’ll never forget the feeling of butterflies and couldn’t stop smiling. It was worth the sunburn!

Celeste

Celeste and Brandon have cozied right up to life as a married couple. In the spirit of equality and love, so clearly seen in their wedding day, they split the day-to-day responsibilities of their lives together right down the middle. {Taking turns cooking and doing the dishes, with Celeste usually doing the laundry, and Brandon usually taking out the trash.} Full of respect for each other!

For the fun stuff: every day feels like a celebration now that they’re married! But still, getting out of the routine is healthy. Their favorite married-life tradition is going out on the town together a few times a month. Sometimes just to a movie — what matters is getting dressed up, getting out, and getting to enjoy each other’s company!

Celeste and Brandon made a fun trip up to Colorado recently, for a wedding nonetheless! “It was so fun to watch others tie the knot and be so happy on their big day. We reminisced of our own big day and loved just being able to be together to enjoy this amazing adventure with others!!” Celeste says.

No major life changes have ricocheted through their life together yet, but emphasis on yet. They’re moving to a different state soon, and buying their first house together! New Mexico will be sad to see them go, but we’re grateful to have had them here this long.

Thank you to you both for sharing your wedding day, post-vows life, and for spreading love wherever you go!

Real, Regal Wedding at the Event Center at Sandia Golf Club

Perfect Wedding Guide planning design inspo ceremony inspiration marriage wedding vows celebration engaged planner tips tricks decor event New Mexico Albuquerque Santa Fe true love happy couple sunset outdoor photography portrait natural light

There’s a distinctly magical quality about the Sandia Mountains here in New Mexico. Not fairytale-Disneyland type of magic, per se, but something like no other. If you live here, or have ever traveled through, you probably know what we’re talking about. {They don’t call it the Land of Enchantment for no reason!}

So it’s never really a surprise when an engaged couple, filled to the brim with love and excitement, wants to incorporate some of New Mexico’s scenery into their day of celebration. What better way to solidify your vows, than with the ever-regal, perpetually devoted Sandia Mountains as your backdrop?

And unless you want to hike up to the crest, the best place to get that scenic view is at the Event Center at Sandia Golf Club. {Which, let’s be real, mountain-top weddings are gorgeous, but how is your great Aunt Betty going to make that hike?!}

When Alyssa and Porfirio decided to take the leap, to spend the rest of their time on earth together, it was the easiest decision of their lives. Right behind that though, the second easiest choice was their venue — the Event Center at Sandia Golf Club.

It was clear to us why we would choose the Event Center at Sandia Golf Club as our reception venue. The view of the Sandia mountains and the view of the NM sunset is breathtaking. A lover of sunsets, I knew this venue was a “must-have.”

Alyssa, Bride

A lover of sunsets and a lover of love — the local vendors Alyssa and Porfirio chose to work with for their wedding day made sure that the only thing on their minds was sunsets, love, and each other.

We put our trust into the experts and they transformed our vision into a reality. From the candles and candelabras to the orchids and chiavari chairs, from the up-lighting and selfie mirror photobooth to the iridescent cake and bride/groom M&M’s, from the significance of the memory table to the significance of the ring-bearers pillow, it’s apparent that we not only incorporated meaningful symbolism within the smallest of details but ensured that the details also reflected “us.”

Alyssa, Bride

Their marriage began as anyone would hope, surrounded by beauty, family, friends, and dedicated local businesses, working behind the scenes. It never ceases to amaze us at how these intensely collaborative, uniquely special days come together so flawlessly — but we’re constantly grateful for weddings like these, to remind us why we do what we do.

Special thank you to the Event Center at Sandia Golf Club for providing a space for love to bloom, and for every magnificent vendor {listed below!} who helped manifest Alyssa and Porfirio’s dreams.

A Love That Feels Like Home: Celeste + Brandon’s Real Wedding

Maybe it’s the precious details of Celeste + Brandon’s elegant wedding day, maybe it’s the simple way spring ushers all things out of dormancy, or maybe a combination of both. I’m not quite sure, but something about this specific union of love, of all the beautiful and awe-inspiring weddings we’ve seen through Perfect Wedding Guide, has me in tearing up. {Seriously.}

Revisiting this incredible day vicariously through Kayla Kitts Photography‘s lens and highly trained eye, especially during this time of year, is an absolute treat. The delicate vibrancy of Celeste’s wedding gown is reminiscent of new spring blossoms, and yet there is a familiarity surrounding Celeste + Brandon’s devotion to each that comforts one as does the end of winter.

I’m not alone in my adoration of this particular wedding, either. Kayla, despite her years of experience with so many beautiful couples, was choked up during their ceremony as well.

Time has passed, but I can still hear Celeste saying in her vows, “This may seem like the start of a new journey, but to me…it feels like coming home.”  My heart almost burst, and the lump came to my throat quickly as I held back tears.  When you’re marrying your soul mate, your best friend, it’s home.  She couldn’t have said it better.

Kayla, Kayla Kitts Photography

And then, of course, Hotel Albuquerque lent itself to the day so well. Delightful pops of turquoise and lavender framed Celeste + Brandon as they celebrated the beginning of the rest of their lives together in one of Albuquerque’s most wonderful and accommodating venues, and in the company of their loved ones and the local vendors they collaborated with.

Words can only go so far as to describe their celebration though, so we’re eternally grateful to Kayla for sharing this wedding with us. Her photography always encapsulates invaluable moments so well, and this wedding was no exception.

Real Wedding at La Fonda | Ginny + Kolton’s Laid Back Celebration

We’re not exactly sure how Maura Jane Photography always gets to work with the most unique brides, but we’re starting to suspect there’s some magic involved here. Or, it could be because Maura herself is one of the most charming and down-to-earth photographers here in Albuquerque, so she attracts brides with similar vibes. (We like the idea of Maura casting spells to manifest interesting couples in her life, though.)

Either way, Ginny + Kolton’s cooler-than-cool ceremony at Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi might just be our favorite wedding at the Santa Fe venue of 2018 so far. Plus, a reception at La Fonda is always a good choice! Utilizing Santa Fe’s relaxed and restorative energy, the out-of-state couple made their wedding like a vacation for their guests, rather than a big production.

Keeping the event low-key didn’t detract from the day, though. Pops of blue {2018 wedding trend prediction anyone?} sparkled throughout the venue, the invites, and of course, New Mexico’s trademark skies — which dimmed respectfully as their guests enjoyed margaritas on La Fonda‘s terrace during the day’s finale.

Somehow, Ginny + Kolton got the best of both worlds: a relaxing celebration of their love AND the collection of tiny details that, when merged, created an absolute masterpiece of a day. We’re thankful that Maura was there to capture each moment. Savor what her lens captured below, and send a little thought of gratitude to the other vendors who made this day possible — also listed below.

{And may Ginny + Kolton live happily ever after! New Mexico already misses you both.}
