Santa Fe’s 5 Best Wedding Venues

We don’t know if you’ve noticed by now but…Planning a wedding can be quite a bit of work! With every detail under your purview from floral arrangements to wrangling bridesmaids for gown fittings, the small decisions can easily pile up. And if hiring a wedding planner isn’t in the cards for you, then everything remains on your plate — along with the rites and responsibilities of daily life, families, jobs, and so much more.

Fear not, though. After living vicariously through hundreds of New Mexico weddings — we are New Mexico’s Perfect Wedding Guide, after all — we’ve intentionally partnered with only the local wedding professionals who make the planning process easier, not harder.

So when the decisions start to teeter and sway with the height of them all on just your shoulders, and you need to knock a big one off your to do list — it’s time to choose your wedding venue. More specifically, it’s time to choose a wedding venue with a dedicated event staff, gorgeous features to minimize decor needs, and the right aesthetic for your celebration. These 5 Santa Fe wedding venues check all the boxes!

And whether you’re a native New Mexican born and raised, or recent transplant, or distant admirer, Santa Fe caters to all. With it’s winding streets and undeniable air of whimsy, it’s no wonder the historic city has captured the hearts of so many devotees. These venues serve as microcosms of the larger culture of Santa Fe, which is one rich with traditional architecture, an emphasis on the arts, and a surrounding landscape that wraps its people up in natural beauty.

While they are listed 1 to 5 for viewing convenience, there’s no going wrong with any of these Santa Fe wedding venues.

1. Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe

The perfectly manicured Four Seasons Resort in Santa Fe is known for its opulence, but its reputation misses one key aspect that makes the venue so special. Welcoming in each and every guest and wedding party, the space is carefully curated and well-loved, so the moment you step inside, you can experience a deep sense of comfort.

2. La Fonda on the Plaza

If you’ve heard of Santa Fe, New Mexico, then you’ve probably heard of La Fonda on the Plaza — and for good reason, too! The venerable space stands proudly as an integral piece of New Mexico’s history. With each corner and crevice of the venue lovingly cared for over the last 400 years, the sense of cultural, temporal, and historical transcendence ushers in travelers and engaged couples from all across the world.

In Santa Fe, grandeur is something to be celebrated, not shied away from. With large, accommodating spaces, the Cities of Gold Hotel truly is a gold mine for elaborate celebrations in the city. On-site catering, an advanced audio-visual team, and a tended-to stage area all come together to round out the venue space, making it a dream come true for the busy engaged couple.

4. Eldorado Hotel and Spa

Speaking of gold, Eldorado Hotel and Spa, with it’s well-known and dearly loved ceremony backdrop, also rings in as a hidden treasure in Santa Fe. Wrapping up the history and culture of our southwestern state in a veil of impeccable elegance, Eldorado blends the two aesthetics together seamlessly. A fine eye for detail and dedication to their couples as a baseline requirement for being part of of the Eldorado team makes it no small mystery that some of New Mexico’s most fantastic weddings have taken place here.

5. Inn and Spa at Loretto

So while you’re enveloped in the beauty of its architectural features, getting lost in its meticulous detail, and dancing through its inspirational structure, their event team is working endlessly to ensure you can relax, be present for your celebration, and just keep dancing. What more could you possibly ask for?

Flowers & Things: New Mexico’s Go-To Wedding Florist

If you’re into weddings as much as we are — and you probably are, considering you’re on a wedding blog right now — then you probably keep up with local and national trends. If you keep up with local and national trends, then you’ve definitely seen the newest craze with wedding bouquets: moody succulents. Yes, moody has taken over the previously bright-and-airy vibe of weddings, and yes succulents have splattered everyone’s Pinterest boards and Instagram grids for quite some time now.

But moody succulents? Now that’s something fresh, and not easy to accomplish. Especially when you’re in New Mexico, which is usually a beat or two behind the costal trends that shape this year’s wedding aesthetic. (It’s the Land of Mañana, we’ll get there when we feel like it!) Of course, there was one local team of florists who beat us all to the punch: Flowers & Things.

Flowers & Things handcrafted a custom bouquet of spiraling succulents juxtaposed by dazzlingly white hydrangeas last year that, yes a year later, we are still obsessed with. (Don’t worry — here’s a pic, so you can drool along with us.)

Since this magical arrangement first graced our eyes, we’ve seen it replicated a few dozen times from florists across the state and we love it just the same. We love that it sparked a new take on the bridal bouquet, but most of all we love how well it encapsulated the talents and values of the creative team at Flowers & Things.

At first glance, Flowers & Things seems to be your standard, high-quality floral shop. Bouquets, boutonnieres, and bursting blooms adorn their shelves, but alongside the traditional ribbon and basket that supplement their arrangements, they also have a myriad of customization options that make their flowers next level. Succulents of course, but also berries, butterflies, pearls, rhinestones, feathers, and so much more.

That’s why the moody succulent bouquet represented Flowers & Things so well. Their craft is rooted in tradition and their florists are expertly trained, yet they have so much passion for what they create that they’re constantly innovating. When their team incorporates modern trends into their customized arrangements, it’s with a finely tuned eye and careful consideration. So you never have to worry about ending up with a bouquet that, 20 years from now, will make your wedding look very, ahem, 2019.

You don’t have to take our word for it though — feel free to do your research with their 300+ reviews of happy, local people who collaborated with Flowers & Things on the floral arrangement of their dreams, starting with a free consultation. In the meantime, we’ll be here dreaming of propagating succulents and throwing peony petals after a wedding ceremony.

Cake, Aliens, and More Cake!

At Perfect Wedding Guide, we always like to stay involved with fun stuff in the wedding world, and what could be more fun than cake?! Take a look at the answers we got from the owner of The Chocolate Maven when we went looking for some crazy cake fun…

PWG: Can you share with us a unique wedding experience you’ve had?

Dharm: “We’re in Santa Fe- every wedding is a unique and special experience. Each couple brings their own style to the collaboration. We delight in celebrating love. We’ve been in business since the 80’s. We strive to be environmentally conscious, using natural food colors, unbleached flour, local resources. The joy of the experience drives our passion daily. We believe wedding cakes should not only look beautiful, they should taste good too! Food by happy bakers tastes better!”

PWG: What’s a non-traditional wedding theme that you’ve seen recently that stood out to you?

Dharm: “We once did an Alien Abduction Cake. It was a huge Mayan Pyramid with the bride & groom on top. There was a rig set up with a UFO that floated over the pyramid and lifted up the bride & groom cake topper.”

We didn’t get a picture of the alien cake, that delicious creation was abducted by all the wedding guests before anyone could snap a picture! But here is a beautiful photo, taken by Tony Gambino Photography,  of Micaela & Raffinee cutting their magnificent wedding cake, designed and made by The Chocolate Maven!

Thank you Aviva Baumann, Wedding Cake Coordinator over at The Chocolate Maven, for filling us in on some answers to our little questionnaire.

“The inspiration [for this styled shoot] was an elegant elopement.  We wanted to use masculine materials like dark tones and wooden accents contrasted with the softness and femininity of the bridal elements like the baby’s breath bouquet and ethereal white dress.” -Maria Socha, Sealed With A Kiss, LLC
