NY Bridal Market: Runway Photos and Emerging trends

Once a bride-to-be says yes to a proposal, she simply cannot wait to pick out that beautiful wedding dress, but as brides start to look, it can be extremely overwhelming, according to The Huffington Post. However, the bride will find the gown she always wanted.

“You’ll find the right, dream dress,” designer Romona Keveza told the news source. “When you know, you know. And it’s in your heart, not your head. Just like when you found the right guy.”

Many brides-to-be look to the catwalk to see what the latest trends will be, and after the New York Bridal market this past weekend, a number of trends emerged for spring 2013. According to the New York Daily News, there was a wide range of styles walking down the runway. Everything from classic gowns to vintage Hollywood appeared, including short hemlines with long trains to layers of tulle and French lace.

The basic colors of ivory, champagne and bright white ruled the runway, but designer Vera Wang added a few different hues. The famous wedding dress designer, who last year showed off a series of black gowns, presented dresses in scarlet and crimson. Designers Keveza and Oscar de la Renta also featured red gowns.  Below are images taken at the New York Bridal Market by Perfect Wedding Guide.

Vera Wang shocks bridal fashion week with black dresses

One of the most well-known wedding dress designers stunned New York’s bridal fashion week this past Sunday by sending one beautiful wedding dress after the other down the runway – but in the color black, according to the Daily Mail.

The dresses were made of traditional gown materials including organza, tulle and chiffon but none were any shade of white. However, some nude-colored dresses with dramatic styling did make it down the runway, according to the news source.

Wang has continually influenced the wedding industry and has pushed boundaries by creating dove grey and pail mint dresses, but this is the first time that she has produced black gowns, according to the news provider.

Wang has designed for various celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Avril Lavigne, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Chelsea Clinton, the media outlet reports.

According to the Huffington Post, even though the collection was far from traditional, it did not disappoint. Many raved about the collection, and it leaves people wondering if these black and nude dresses will be walking down the aisle in coming years.

A Costco Bride

Weddings aren’t cheap, we all know that. According to The Wedding Report the average wedding in 2010 cost $24,066 (USA). That is a big chunk of change! In this economy shoppers have become more conscious of deals and bargains. On way to wed on a budget is buying discounted wedding dress at… Costco. Yes I said Costco. The big box store is now offering wedding dresses at a minimum of 40% of what it would normally sell for at retail. The wedding dresses are designed by Kristie Kelly which features six distinct styles with classic silhouettes, soft embellishments and gorgeous fabrics consistent with the designer’s commitment to create couture-inspired gowns that remain understated yet feminine. The gowns flatter all body types with romantic, quiet detailing and a perfect fit that ensure the bride shines through.
