Traditional New Mexico Wedding {Erik + Daniela}

Theresa Mahoney

It was a magical night when Erik and Daniela Romero exchanged vows at their beautiful winter wedding this December at NOAH’s Event Venue. Upon making her grand entrance, all eyes were on Daniela as she made her way down the aisle of the intimate ceremony hall.

Escorted by her great-grandmother, not a single eye was dry as she gave Daniela away. As Erik and Daniela made their personal vows to one another, it was obvious these two were meant to be! After their moving ceremony, however, we got to see another side of this dynamic duo.

Once their official announcement was made, this young couple made their way to the receiving line as a procession of friends and family greeted them with well wishes at the sound of mariachis echoing through the halls NOAH’s. As soon as guests threw down some JR’s Barbecue during the reception, a night of dancing, selfies and photobombs ensued!

The moment the DJ played La Marcha, all their guests jumped to their feet to participate in the traditional New Mexican wedding dance! From the youngest to the oldest, including Daniela’s great-grandmother (89), impromptu couples of friends and family followed the bride and groom throughout the banquet hall in celebration! This was definitely a night to remember, see for yourself!

Los Poblanos Winter Wedding {Grant + Andrea}

Liz Anne Photography

Grant and Andrea woke to a soft blanket of glistening snow, while a steady flow of snowflakes quietly fell to the ground last winter. With the feeling one has on Christmas morning, the same feeling swept across Grant and Andrea as they overlooked the winter wonderland before tying the knot at the beautiful Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm.

As the morning turned to afternoon, the snowy clouds drifted into the horizon and the typical blue skies of New Mexico broke through to display the gleaming rays of sunshine, gently melting the snow to leave a fresh layer of dew just in time for their ceremony.

After they said “I do” under the Grand Portal of La Quinta, with its towering columns and large fresco, Mr. and Mrs. Britt partook of a gourmet dinner in the Grand Ballroom, specially prepared on sight by the amazing chefs at Los Poblanos. Afterward, they settled near a cozy fire in the historic library to celebrate their marriage as they shared cake with family and friends.

Before the night came to a close, however, Grant had one more surprise up his sleeve. Along with his a cappella group, he serenaded his beautiful new wife with romantic songs to start their new marriage on the right tune.

Liz Anne PhotographyLiz Anne Photography

From the enchanting ivy sweeping over the property to the roaring fireplaces, we knew that Los Poblanos would bring an organic, warm and romantic feel to our intimate winter wedding. The old-world charm surrounded by such natural beauty made it the perfect venue. We will never forget waking up at the inn the morning of our wedding to find a blanket of snow covering the ground with a back drop of earthy greens. It was breathtakingly beautiful and completely set the tone for the entire day. The staff at Los Poblanos was incredibly kind and accommodating, ensuring not a single detail was overlooked which made for an enjoyable experience. From the beginning we wanted our guests to be enveloped in an atmosphere of simplistic elegance and Los Poblanos effortlessly made that possible. — Andrea, Bride

JEWELRY

When selecting bridal jewelry, it’s important to pick something that expresses your personal style. We like the idea of being able to take the jewelry you wore on your wedding day and infusing it into your everyday style. Too often people select jewelry that doesn’t represent their personal taste and it ends up in a drawer never to be worn again.

In fact, the best wedding accessories are usually not considered “bridal.” So before you buy, talk to a designer about creating a custom piece. There are so many talented, non-traditional jewelry designers out there who love creating one-of-a-kind pieces. And the same goes for the groom when selecting tie clips, cuff links, or lapel pins. — Genuine and Ginger

MAKEUP

For the nontraditional bride, embrace everything that makes you beautiful and unique. Don’t worry about trends or the advice of others. Focus on what makes you feel beautiful, confident and truly comfortable. — C. Johnson Makeup

FLORAL

When creating a mood with flowers it’s best to provide your florist with a color pallet, pictures, textures and specific words describing the feeling you want to achieve. For instance, you might use descriptions like romantic, soft, lots of texture, wild and so on.

Also, if you give your florist freedom and allow them to choose the blooms that fit within your vision, it will be designed much easier than if you’re adamant about specific flower types. More importantly, find a florist whose style you love and trust them! — Stephanie Yardman

Ultimately, bridal styling should be based on the bride and her personality. The idea that something is bridal or not bridal is all a myth. We want to encourage brides to rock whatever they love on their wedding day and embrace their adventurous, non-traditional side!

Trend Alert: Field to Vase Floral

Stephanie Yardman Floral Design

As we anticipate Valentine’s Day, we want to make sure you’re in the know when it comes to flowers in your area. Tuesday, you heard about Charlotte’s Flowers, an amazing local florist specializing in silk flowers that always look as fresh as the day they were arranged. Today, we want to let you in on another flower trend for those of you who prefer the real deal.

Field to vase flower design is all the rage and their is no sign of slowing down. As it gains momentum, this trend is only going to grow in popularity in 2017! In case you’re new to the field to vase movement, it is flower design method in which floral designers use the freshest, local and in season flowers to create whimsical, organic arrangements.

The secret to field to vase flower arrangements is that they are not perfectly symmetrical. Rather, they are arranged in such a way that would complement nature — and the wilder the better! Although most rules are out the window when it comes to this method of flower design, it still takes a certain skill set and creative eye to make sure they come out just right.

And to make this particular style more appealing, the sky is the limit with what you can incorporate into your arrangements. In fact, the more interesting the items you incorporate, the more unique the arrangement. For instance, you can use fresh fruit like berries or mini apples, local veggies for a farmer’s market vibe, or succulents and cacti.

Take a look at some of the amazing field to vase floral we have right in here in New Mexico to get some inspiration for your big day!
