On Tuesday, we had a wonderful wedding guild luncheon with fellow industry leaders. We hosted the event at the La Fonda on the Plaza and invited over 50 wedding businesses to attend. What a great way to network, share wedding experiences, and find out from a Santa Fe local bride how we can improve our services to our clients.

Summer is a popular time of year for weddings. The days are longer and clear, sunny weather is the perfect backdrop for any outdoor ceremony. But summer heat can also wreak havoc on bridal hair and makeup, causing brides to have to take a few more steps in preparing beauty looks for the big day.

What are the best looks for summer brides?
“Take your beauty cues from the weather, the best look for a summer bride would be a clean and simple palette—sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer, and creme blush will help beat humidity. Also, candy pink generally looks great on all skin color, hair color, and age ranges, so incorporating those colors into your eye shadow, lipstick, or your bridesmaid’s makeup is an easy way to ensure a great look.”

Smile ‘n Say Chocolate! will be fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s 
Relay for Life this month. They are showing their appreciation by helping to raise money for this cause through the sales of their chocolate products. They will be donating a portion of their sales for the month of June to the American Cancer Society. To get involved, join them at the Relay Event at Balloon Fiesta Park on the 19th of June. Stop by their tent (Miller Bonded Team) to purchase their “Edible and Memorable” chocolate lollipops featuring the American Cancer Society logo. Also Smile ‘n Say Chocolate! will be taking photos for those who wish to place a custom chocolate order.

Peoples Flowers launched the Peoples Better World Initiative this past April on Earth Day in a company-wide effort to minimize their environmental footprint. They are constantly making their company more sustainable (i.e. green) as possible. In order to achieve being green, they are recycling paper, cardboard, plastic, as well as composting all of their green waste and buying more and more flowers that are certified sustainably grown.

In addition, they have a vase recycling program. As a way to give back to the customer for their recycling efforts, Peoples Flowers offers a discount on their next flower purchase when a customer brings in their vase to recycle.
It is great to see local businesses not only promote sustainable living, but also provide easy ways for their customers to recycle as well (and receive a discount)! Everyone benefits when everyone helps out, thanks Peoples Flowers!
